He is wearing a fur-trimmed robe, and carries a wine flask. The 'Cluny Merchant' dollshouse wallhanging co-ordinates well with the 'Cluny Maid'. Making a matching pair so that they face each other across a room (such as either side of a fireplace, for instance) looks wonderful. The tree is laden with oranges, whilst beneath it grows a profusion of bright flowers. The swirling acanthus leaf motif, so typical of Morris's designs, fills the four corners.
